Your pattern includes:

Open your A4 file with Adobe Acrobat Reader and, in the “Layers” tab,

select the size or sizes you want.

For all sizes:

 

Short dress version:

1.9 m (2⅛ yd) of fabric

 

Long dress version:

2.8 m (3⅛ yd) of fabric

 

Ruffle version:

2.8 m (3⅛ yd) of fabric

if you'd like to use a different fabric for the dress body and the ruffle:

1.35 m (1½ yd) for the dress body

1.55 m (1¾ yd) for the ruffle

And of course... Your sewing machine, or a serger if you have one!

A wide range of fabrics work well for the Julia dress: linen, linen-viscose, linen-cotton, ramie, viscose crepe, tencel, cotton poplin, seersucker, cotton...

 

You can also go for a crepe/chiffon ruffle combo for a beautifully feminine dress! That said, if you're a beginner, keep in mind that chiffon is a fabric to handle with care.

Choose your usual size for the Julia dress. Make a muslin first to check how the dress hangs!

 

I wear both versions in a size 38.

I'm 1.68 m (5'6") tall.

If you're printing the A4 format at home, start by printing only page 1 of the PDF pattern at 100%, and check that your test square measures exactly 5×5 cm (2×2").

You can then print all the other pages.

To assemble the pattern: every sheet is numbered, and you'll also find markers (grey circles) in the center of each sheet to help you line them up easily. You can either trim or fold the white margins.
